Östermalmshallen Padel Center

In one of Sweden’s largest building recycling projects, the temporary market hall in Östermalms Square, Stockholm, has been given new life in the form of a padel center. The building was disassembled and transported from Stockholm to Mölnlycke, outside of Gothenburg, where it today holds six padel tennis courts, a restaurant, a café, conference rooms, and a shop.

Östermalmshallen Padel Center is located in Wallenstam’s new urban regeneration project, Mölnlycke Fabriker, close to approximately 700 new residences. The building was drawn by Tengbom, who also performed the modifications for its new location and purposes for client Wallenstam AB. Träullit delivered our T-roof, a cantilevering load-bearing roof construction with an integrated acoustic solution, which was entirely recycled from the previous market hall building. In corridors, restaurant area, and the conference room, Träullit Acoustic was installed in MX24-profiles with our new D-edge. This roof panel offers a concealed, seamless, and fully demountable installation in suspended ceiling grid structures as well as functional characteristics like sound absorption, fire protection and moisture balancing.

Reycling and reusing materials is an important part in the long-term strive for a more sustainable environment and future. Träullit is very proud to be a part in this groundbreaking recycling project!
