Östermalmshallen Padel Center

In one of Sweden’s largest building recycling projects, the temporary market hall in Östermalms Square, Stockholm, has been given new life in the form of a padel center. The building was carefully dismantled into sections and transported from Stockholm to Mölnlycke, just outside Gothenburg, where it now houses six double padel courts as well as a restaurant, café, conference rooms, and a shop.

Östermalmshallen Padel is located within Wallenstam’s new urban development project, Mölnlycke Fabriker, alongside nearly 700 new homes. The facility has been designed by Tengbom, who also adapted the building to its new location and sporting function on behalf of Wallenstam AB. Träullit supplied its T-roof system — a self-supporting roof construction that provides both excellent acoustics and aesthetics already at the structural stage — which has been entirely reused from the original market hall building.

Reuse and recycling are key components in the long-term effort towards a more sustainable environment and future. Träullit is proud to be part of this pioneering reuse project.
